Church Worship Leader
Position Summary:
The Church Worship Leader is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading music during worship services. This role helps guide the congregation in meaningful, engaging worship through song, creating an atmosphere that supports spiritual growth and participation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead congregational singing during worship services, rehearsals, and special events
Select appropriate songs that align with sermon themes, church calendar, or scripture
Coordinate with the pastor and church leadership on service planning
Direct and rehearse with musicians, vocalists, and choir (if applicable)
Ensure smooth transitions between songs, prayers, and other service elements
Maintain a spiritually focused and welcoming worship environment
Qualifications:
Strong singing ability and musical leadership skills
Ability to play musical instrument such as guitar or keyboard
Ability to lead and engage a congregation confidently
Experience working with vocalists and/or instrumentalists
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A personal commitment to the church’s mission, statement of faith, and distinctives
Pass a background check. Have at least three references
Spiritual Expectations:
Demonstrates a consistent personal faith and spiritual maturity
Serves as a role model in both character and lifestyle
Participates in church life beyond leading worship
Daily personal devotional and prayer time
Time Commitment:
Weekly rehearsals (as needed)
Sunday services (and additional services/events as scheduled)
Preparation time for song selection and coordination
Part-time position paying $150 to $225 per week based upon experience
Semi-flexible schedule, paid by job not by hours
Reports To:
Pastor and works in cooperation with leadership team
